Chapter 19
Pip has agreed to go to London in order to become a gentleman. Joe and Biddy are pleased with Pip’s choice, but Pip sees himself higher as both of them and feels embarrassed when he has to take Joe out to town, he has an argument with Biddy on how low he sees them.This results in Pip having a very lonely night.Pip goes in to a village to pick out a suit. the person giving him the suit has a boy who he bosses around and tells him what to do “Mr Trabb’s boy was the most audacious boy in all that countryside” the tailor shows him types of material to pick out for the suit, but with no experience Pip has no clue which one to choose. With the help of Mr.Trabb Pip chooses the material. Pip then meets Mr. Pumblechook and he is so eager to shake Pip’s hand “May I-May I” as he wants to acquire the money Pip owns.Mr Pumblechook is very friendly with Pip and gives Pip many things to drink and eat. They both drink to Pip’s sister and finish all the wine. Pip was getting ready for his journey to London, on Friday morning he visits Mr. Pumblecook to get his suit, he then makes his way to MIss Havisham’s and tells her he is off to London tomorrow morning. Pip had his final meal with Joe and Biddy before he left. Pip says his goodbyes to his family ” I kissed my sister, kissed Biddy and threw my arms around Joe’s neck” he then left for London.
