Act 1 Scene 1:

“There to meet with Macbeth”

1 scene 2:  King Duncan’s camp near Forres. A general has come back from a bloddy battle and King Duncan has requested him to report what happened.  The two sides a re evenly matched and very tired that they are clinging on to each other, no longer having the ability to fight each other. “As two spent swimmers that do cling together and choke their art. Macdonald is thr enemy, anything vile around Macdonald swarms arounf him. The irish mercenaries work for Macdonald and luck is on their side.its being personified as a prostitue work for Macdonald.”Showed like a rebel’s whore” Brave Macbeth is ignoring the good luck Macdonald has on his side, with a bloddy sword fighting his way towards Macdonald through a battlefield of soldiers.Macbeth shoved the sword into Macdonalds body and split his body in half and put his head on a spike. “Till he unseamed him from the nave to the chaps, and fixed his head upon our battlements”

“The merciless Mcdonald worthy to be a rebel”

This metaphor makes the comparison between Mcdonald and a rebel. This metaphor would translate to, the Cold hearted king Macdonald is worthy to be a rebel, meaning he is a rebel to the King of Scotland and him being merciless, means he wont stop until he wins the battle and kills King Duncan, he simply is cold hearted and is worthy to be a rebel towards Duncan. What is ironic about this situation is that Macdonald is seemed to be Merciless but, he is not merciless to stop “Brave Macbeth” from killing his soldiers one by one and eventually killing Macdonald, and humiliating him by putting his head on a spike. What makes this situation ironic is that he is meant to be a rebel and so strong and cold hearted but couldn’t stand a chance against Macbeth.

duncan calls Macbeth his cousin, he killed Macdonald but thr norweigen carried on the battle with new man and armor. They thought the coupd not go on anymore. Macbeth and Banquo are the weakened parties, the norwiegen lord is as powerful as an eagle to a sparrow, this is a dramatic device of delay to create suspense on who won the battle. The soldier says he is now wounded and his gashes cry for help.

The king is very grateful of the captain. The battle was evenly matched amd in the end they won and beat the  Norwegians. Macbeth said he is not going to bury their men until money is given. Thane of Cawdor is aiding the Norwegians, Duncan is giving Macbrth the Thane of Cawdor title.

Act 1 Scene 3:

The three witches begin talking, the rythm of their speech is very different to people recognise. They are close to where Duncan is, near thr Fores, There is thunder, cannon balls would have been used recreating the sound of it and focusing the audience. The first witch is able to do impossible things. She has the ability to sail, and the second witch would provide the wind. Described a scene with a crazy ship in a storm being tossed around in crazy directions, symbolizing Macbeth and showing us that the Witches have control over Macbeth. There about to meet Macbeth, the witches talk about how much fun they are going to have with Macbeth.Macbeth is using the same language as the witches, making this a paradox as these two things cant happen at the same time.Foul and fair signifies that the weather is bad but the outcome of the battle is good. The witches dont look like they are in this plant and say they are out of this world, the witches look like women but they have. The third witch claims Macbeth will be the king, a scene  with a king in it could be treason. Banquo’s children are going to overthrow Macbeth, Macbeth is going to be king. Ross informs Macbeth that he is the thane of Cawdor. Dramatic irony occurs when we know that Maveth was granted the Thane Of Cawdor , but Macrth himself doesn’t know.Dramatic irony is when the audience knows something the characters dont.Macbeth is different to Banquo, as Banquo doesnt trudt the witches , but Macbeth cares more about him being king and the eagerness of him bring King is taking over him, Macbeth is more power hungry amd Banquo cares more about his sanity. What the witches are doing is not good or bad if it is bad why has good newd benn given to Macbeth, he then continues to say if they are good how can ue be king if they already is one, the only way he is going to be king he would have to kill Duncan, Macbeth is very paranoid.Who is in control of Macbeth’s future? He is controlled by the idea pf him becoming King, macbeth is saying that fate will take his course, he will need to do nothing. Fate.Banquo is saying that the new honours that are goimg to fit us, we have to make it happen, going against Mabeth’s theory of Fate “Like our strange garments, cleave not to their mould
But with the aid of use.”. What happens will happen, macbeth says that time will still go on whatever happens referring to fate happening, reinforcing Macbeth’s theory of fate.Banquo supports Macbeth, Macbeth tells Banquo to keep it between the two. There is more of MAcbth.

Act 1 Scene 4:

All four Duncan, Malcolm, Macbeth and Banquo are at the king’s palace, King Duncan starts to hear reports that the previous Thane Of Cawdor has been executed and instead of dying a painful guilty death he has died as noble death confessing freely to the traitorous crimes he has committed, the report of the Thane’s death was given to Duncan by Malcolm(his son).  Duncan then proceeds to praise the two generals Ross and Angus for their profound bravery and victory in battle, he then names Malcolm as the heir to his throne after he dies. Macbeth has a false reaction to this he is in joy and happiness that Malcolm has been granted as Duncan’s successor but knows to himself that in order to accomplish fate he must kill Malcolm and become the king of Scotland. The previous Thane of Cawdor died an honerable death. Duncan accepts that The Thane was a honerable man, but seems to accept everyone and put his trust into everyone. Duncan expresses his gratitude for Macbeth,  he says i have not enough wealth to give you what you have done, he is very grateful for what Macbeth has done. Macbeth dishonestly says that the inherit pleasure of serving duncan is enough itself. Duncan wants to see Macbeth flourish, Banquo doesn’t receive anything from Duncan. Duncan will make his son become the prince of Cumberland. Duncan has made it clear to everyone that Malcolm is the heir to the throne.Macbeth invited Duncan to dinner, Macbeth then talks to the audience that Malcolm is to die, and that he has to remove Malcolm from his way,

God does not look at Macbeth, he should not look at what Macbeth is about to do. And let him not see Macbeth’s desires which are to kill the King, Macbeth is so ashamed of what he is doing he doesn’t want himself to know, Macbeth is power hungry, it is ambition. The stars represent heaven, stars hide your fires refers to Macbeth wanting to do  his dark desired in darkness without God looking at him, Macbeth is desperate. His desires are taking the better of him. Lady Macbeth wants poison to come out of her breasts, this is the types of person she is, Heaven is under the blanket of darkness, lady Macbeth is defying God and going under his back.Lady Macbeth is excited about what Macbeth is going to do, she is very two faced. Macbeth replies and informs her that Duncan is coming to stay overnight at Macbeth’s castle, Lady Macbeth will handle the party and what the two will do all lead two them being granted King and Queen. Lady Macbeth does not believe that Macbeth will kill King Duncan.Once Macbeth enters her attitude changes.

Act 1 Scene 6:

the king is entering Macbeth’s castle.Duncan is congratulates Macbeth, pathetic fallacy is found as Duncan arrives in a sunny day but we are soon to find out that he is going to die and the weather will change. Banquo is agreeing with Duncan the environment is being done in the language, lady Macbeth enters and she is being completely indigenous , Macbeth has seemed to got here faster than the king. Banquo is suggesting that Macbeth has gotten home quicker as he deeply loves his wife.A scene in the sunshine of Duncan arriving at Macbeth’s castle showing how two faced Lady Macbeth is and how devious she is

Act 1 Scene 7:

If he kills the king then he kills him quickly, what about the consequences something may return for the person that has done something,Macbeth and Duncan are related,he is reinforcing all the reasons why the King should trust him,Duncan has been such a good man that there is nothing  bad about him, Macbeth has no reason to kill Macbeth but only wants more of himself VULTING AMBITION just as he is about to talk about the other side of it Lady Macbeth interrupts him.Macbeth says he cant do this , then Lady Macbeth goes crazy and calls out Macbeth and shames him calling him a coward.Shes talking about how you can undo yourself fr not fulfilling your intentions.

Fleance is Banquo’s father. Weve been given a time so we know if Duncan is still there or not, the killing has happened or is about to happen. They dont want god to see what they are about to do. Suspense is built up by the way this night God wont see anything.Banquo is having nightmares. Ironic that Macbeth is saying that he is a friend to Banquo as in truth they are not friends as Banquos sons are going to be kings and Macbeth is going to be king so one has to die, making them both enemies.Macbeth has received so much from the king, Shakespeare is showing Duncan as being so grateful and helpful to Macbeth and what he is about to commit now would be truly evil. This reinfroces the guilt Macbeth will later face as a result of killing the King. Macbeth refers to seeing a dagger in his mind, and feels like he has to kill the King.Macbeth is off to do the deed

Macbeth sees a unreal dagger, he is  behaving as if the dagger is calling upon him to be used and kill Duncan, symbolizes all the forces pushing him towards what he is about to do. Its only an imagination pf what Macbeth is seeing.Macbeth is trying to make this imaginary dagger real in agreement with his actions as the dagger that he is imagining is pushing him to kill the king and drawing him towards this murder, all of this could be in his mind.Either his eyes are tricking him or all of his senses are the fools,Macbeth is questioning his perceptions, the dagger has change and is now covered in blood. He anthropomorphism death as a wolf, as if it is walking around, Earth do  not hear Macbeth let not the stones say where he walks.Macbeth needs not to be talking about this but instead doing it, a bell rings and invites Macbeth, as if it is encouraging him to do it.He says nature is already dead so he might aswell kill him. He refers to Duncan going to heaven or hell. Lady Macbeth drugged the guards so they fall asleep and can be framed, she has got drunk too and is very courageous, she proceeds to give us a time check and has successfully drugged the guards. The guards are waling up to quickly according to Lady Macbeth,  she manufactured the idea that she cant kill Duncan as he looks to much as her father. Macbeth returns,Macberh has blood on his hands.Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth to stop being so guilty about it, he didn’t even give them a blessing.Macbeth says he has been abandoned by god.if they worry about it they will be mad.Macbeth thought that he heard someone cry and will no longer sleep no more.He has been cursed not to sleep. Lady Macbeth has discovered that Macbeth brought back the daggers with him instead of laying them near the guards

The porter begins listing facts about the

Lennox talks about certain confusing events such as dire combustion and screams of pain throughout the night

Banquo suspects that Macbeth is the killer.but Banquo’s kids are still to be king.Everythhing has come true that has been promised for Macbeth.Banquo will talk to Macbetg tomorrow.Banquo wont miss Macbeth’s party.Lennox and Maclcolm are making up stories and not kwnjng up to killing Duncan.Macbeth asks if Fleance is going with Banquo.Macbeth’s having a party.Macbeths fearsnof Banquo are that Banquo will reveal Macbeth’s evil.Banquo id brave and coild be plotting something.Banquo critiscird the witches. Macbeth doesnt have children of his own.

Act 3 scene 2

LadyMacbeth wants to talk to Macbeth.Iambic Pentameter is used, Lady Macbeth for the first time will regret.Something is going on with her.Lady Macbeth  reiterates that what’s done has been done. Macbeth tells Lady that it’s not over yet and Banquo and his kids need to be killed. No one is happy at the moment. Peace will go both ways if Banquo is dead,Duncan is happy as Macbeth has given him the gift of death. Lady Macbeth feels like that she has done wrong and has to put a visor so other people don’t see what she is feeling. Macbeth’s mind is full of scorpions.as long as Banquo and Fleance live they pose a threat. Macbeth and his wife can take comfort in the fact that both Banquo and Fleance will be killed.Macbeth has released forces of evil to kill Banquo and fleance.Everytime something bad is about to happen darkness is invoked.loght thickens is a metaphor that is comparing light thickening to bloody thickening when it is cold. MACBETH is making him solely stronger by doing more evil.

Act 3 scene 3

Macbeth instructed murderer two and gathered them all to kill Banquo.Darkness approaches.Banquo gets off his horse so he doesn’t look like he is attacking the palace, the murderers attack Banquo with knives and swords, Fleance escapes. The murderers only killed Banquo and did half the job.

Act 3 scene 4

Fist banquet since the crowing of Macbeth, the Lords are the wealthy people of Scotland. The first murderer enters and tells Macbeth that Banquo has been slain, but fleance has escaped, Macbeth’s anxiety ensues, everything would have been perfect  for Macbeth but Fleance is still alive so he is not safe. Banquo’s ghost has sat on Macbeth’s chair.

Hectare the main witch is going to ensure that 8Macbeth is going to ignore fate and the intentions of God , they are going to create a circumstance where Macbeth would feel no concern or risk of what he wants to do. They want to manipulate Macbeth.

Lady Macduff says that Macbeth is a tyrant and the society says thst to do something good will not stop you from being harmed.

Lady a Macduff and his son are talking to each other about how Macduff has ddisappeared.Lady Macduff is told that her life is in danger, when she does harm she is praised and when she does good people think it is dangerous. What is the point in  not doing harm as it won’t stop her getting killed. A murderer enters and enquires where Macduff is, he proceeds to kill Macduff’s son for being the son of a treacherous man.Lady Macduff is killed off stage.

Enter Macduff and Malcolm in England. Malcolm is sad and has fled to England to hide from thr killer. Every moment that passes there is misery. Scotland is collapsing. If Malcolm finds the opportunity to do something he will take it.The name of Macbeth blisters the tongue. Dramatic irony occurs when Macduff tells us tthat Macbeth hasn’t done anything to him, so there must be some sort of good in him. The county is being enslaved by Macbeth’s tyrany. This is a metaphor which represents it as yoke meaning that Scotland is falling and a lot of misery is being experienced in Scotland under Macbeth’s rule. Malcolm hopes that the people will stand up against Macbeth. Macduff’s trust is tested by Malcolm and soon is trusted enough by Malcolm. Malcolm lists all the things a king should have. All sick people in England have been going to their king. The king of England is being flattered by the doctor so that he can be on a good side with the doctor. Ross enters from Scotland. Malcolm acknowledges this. Scotland is referenced to a grave symbolizing that it has died and is not how it used to be before. Things aren’t so good in Scotland, every minute something terrible happens. Ross isn’t telling Macduff what truly happened to his wife, instead tells him that they are well.Macduff questions if a Macbeth has touched his family. 10000 soldiers are ready to come back to Scotland. Ross has some terrible words to say. The words are about Macduff and that his family have been savagely slaughtered like animals. Macduff tries to come to terms with what just happened. Macduff loses his mind and starts questioning who did it and who died. Malcolm plans to get revenge and kill Macbeth.

TheThe gentlewoman talks in a very different manner to the noble men. And talks in a way where she doesn’t use an iambic pentameter

Macbeth’s internal crisis

There are several parts in the play where Shakespeare expresses Macbeth’s internal state of crisis. He uses several different language devices to provide further evidence of Macbeth’s crisis.

Lady Macbeth shouldn’t have died this early. There would have been a better time. The endless of time. Time is going on and on creeps like a predator, till the last minute of all time. He makes a connection between language and time. It’s a reference to Shakespeare world to the last syllable. He has made a reference to himself as an author. The only thing ever achieved is death. Macbeth’s expression of despair what is thr point in life. The main motive was his wife.Macbeth has lost everything. Life is easy to be put out and of no meaning. Life is always behind you, it is dark and it is empty. Life is short, only a little time is spent, there’s no time at all. Shakespeare Dr was our attention thst this play is a construct. Shakespeare is deliberately breaking the suspension of disbelief. It’s making us see Macbeth as an actor. Its told by a man who is full of fury and sound. Life is meaningless.

Macbeth is saying that Lady Macbeth has died too early.and that life is quite meaningless, you only live to die.

At the end of the scene where everyone had gone against Macbeth and only.fighting for him for money. 10000 soldiers are outside Dunsidane castle, we are near Macbeth’s demise where he has failed and is starting to question life and what the point of it is. Worse is to come to Macbeth.

A walking shadow this is personification as it is personifing Macbeth’s life as a shadow and it walking. It supports Macbeth’s idea of life being meaningless and it being dark and empty and always behind you just like a shadow, Shakespeare is giving the shadow a life. It is linked to the idea that it is a paradox that Macbeth has stated that the life is meaningless and that something so dark and empty can’t have a life. But Shakespeare on the other hand is giving the shadow a life by making it walk. Macbeth’s life has gone away heavily linked to darkness. Shadows appear in the light. He is talking about darkness and advance the value of life being meaningless.

Life is a poor player. This is a metaphor that refers to Macbeth talking about life and life being 1 hour on a stage, life is not real and not important reinforcing the fact that life is meaningless. Once life is over your can’t change what has happened. Life eisteddfod being turned into a person in purpose for explanation.

When relating to other parts in the play for instance areas where Macbeth is about to kill Duncan. He sees an imaginary dagger. The fact that he is seeing this imaginary dagger shows us that he is losing his mind he cannot tell what is real or not. Macbeth proceeds to use what he is seeing in his mind as something that is telling him to kill Duncan.

At the start of the play we are introduced to three witches, but we don’t know whether or not these witches are in his mind or are really there. Throughout the play Shakespeare makes the character of Macbeth base his actions from his mind this clearly shows the audience that the deeper and deeper we get into the play the more and more Macbeth’s mind is deteriorating. This proves to us that Macbeth’s actions and thoughts have changed a lot throughout the play.

A reason why Shakespeare might want to show us Macbeth’s deteriorating mind is to show us the consequences of losing your mind.

At the beginning of the play Macbeth talks in an iambic pentameter but as we advance through the play and more and more of Macbeth’s mind deteriorates he starts to lose that iambic pentameter and starts to talk as if he isnt the king but someone else, this supports the fact the Macbeth is losing his mind.

Shakespeare uses dramatic irony throughout the play so that we as the reader and the audience acknowledge whats going o in the minds of other characters. Shakespeare uses dramatic irony a lot of the time on Macbeth. By using Dramatic irony Shakespeare allows us to focus on Macbeth’s inner thoughts, as there have been many different parts in the text where dramatic irony has been used on Macbeth there is clear evidence of Macbeth’s deteriorating mind
